That’s why we offer a unique volunteer opportunity: helping our beneficiaries care for their pets when they are unable to do so themselves.
Why is this mission important?
For many of our beneficiaries, a pet is not just a companion—it’s a member of the family, a source of comfort and joy.
When a hospital stay or loss of mobility occurs, another worry is added to the challenges of daily life: “Who will take care of my dog? Who will look after my cat?”
By offering these volunteer opportunities, we provide a simple and compassionate solution. Thanks to your commitment, our patients can focus on their health with peace of mind, knowing that their pet is in good hands. This is tangible support that eases the burden on families and upholds the dignity of home care.
What are my responsibilities as a volunteer?
Depending on your availability and preferences, there are several ways you can help:
Walking a dog when its owner can't.
Feeding, changing the water, or cleaning the litter box.
Visiting an animal to offer it companionship and affection.
Provide occasional support during a hospital stay or offer regular support.
Each assignment is designed in collaboration with you, so that it fits your pace and aligns with what you enjoy doing.
Who can become a volunteer?
Anyone who loves animals, has some free time, and wants to get involved in a humanitarian cause can volunteer at Verbandskëscht. No specific training is required: above all, we’re looking for kindness, reliability, and respect for the elderly or vulnerable. Speaking one or more languages (Luxembourgish, French, German, English, Portuguese, Italian) is a plus, but it’s not required.
