What is postoperative home care?
Postoperative care includes all nursing procedures prescribed by your surgeon to support your recovery. Performed by our registered nurses, these technical procedures include, in particular:
- Wound Care: Monitoring the wound, changing sterile dressings, and removing sutures or staples.
- Injections: Administration of anticoagulants to prevent phlebitis, or pain relievers to manage pain.
- Clinical Monitoring: Blood pressure measurement, temperature checks, and monitoring of your overall condition.
Planning Ahead: The Key to a Successful Return Home
To ensure that your discharge from the hospital goes smoothly, planning ahead is essential. We recommend that you contact us before your discharge.
As soon as we receive your prescription, our administrative team will arrange your care (CNS direct billing) and schedule your nurse’s first visit. If any special equipment is needed (such as a medical bed or a hoist), we’ll plan ahead to ensure everything is ready on the day of your visit.
